Until Dawn (2024) — Free Download for PC
Until Dawn drags eight friends back to a remote lodge on Blackwood Mountain exactly one year after two of them disappeared into the snow. What begins as an awkward reunion curdles into a single night of survival in which nothing is guaranteed and nobody is protected by the plot. Rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 by Ballistic Moon, this is a full remake of the interactive horror film that defined the genre, restaged with new lighting, new camera work, a third-person control scheme and an expanded ending.
🦋 Every Choice Splinters The Night
The Butterfly Effect system tracks decisions that feel trivial at the time and pays them off hours later. A door left open, a weapon left behind, a lie told to protect someone — each one quietly reshapes who is standing when the sun comes up. Eight characters can survive and eight can die, and the game genuinely commits to both extremes rather than steering you back toward a safe outcome.
🎭 Eight Survivors, Eight Perspectives
Control passes between all eight friends rather than resting on a single hero, so the story unfolds from inside the group instead of over one shoulder. Relationships shift based on how you treat each other under pressure, and characters remember who abandoned them. By the final act you are not defending a protagonist — you are defending whichever of them you managed to keep alive.
🔦 Search The Mountain For Answers
Between the set pieces you explore the lodge, the abandoned sanatorium and the mines below, piecing together what happened here long before your friends arrived. Clues assemble into two separate mysteries, and totems scattered through the world offer brief glimpses of futures you can still prevent — or walk straight into if you ignore them.
😱 Horror That Refuses To Sit Still
It opens as a straightforward slasher and does not stay one. The turn it takes partway through recontextualises everything that came before it, shifting the threat from something stalking you to something considerably harder to run from. The tension never settles into a pattern you can get comfortable with.
🎬 A Cinematic Production
Performance capture from a recognisable cast anchors an interactive-movie structure that leans on framing, editing and pacing rather than combat. Quick-time sequences and the don't-move mechanic put your hands on the controller at precisely the moments you most want to look away.
🖥️ Rebuilt For Modern PCs
The remake brings reworked environments, new animation, a rescored soundtrack and full controller support, running on Unreal Engine 5 with unlocked framerates, ultrawide support and a deep graphics menu.
