Korea. IL-2 Series is the first entry in the long-running IL-2 flight simulator franchise to leave the Second World War behind. It lands squarely in the Korean War, the one brief window in aviation history where piston-engine fighters and the first generation of jets were shooting at each other in the same sky. Developed by 1C Game Studios, it pairs the series' famously uncompromising flight modelling with the largest map the franchise has ever built, reconstructed from historical documents to match the peninsula as it stood in the early 1950s.

The central tension of the setting is built directly into the flight models. A MiG-15 or an F-86 Sabre handles nothing like a Corsair or an La-9, and energy management, dive limits and gunnery all change completely depending on what you strapped yourself into. The game makes you feel the transition between eras rather than simply describing it in a loading screen.

Over 75,000 square miles of the Korean Peninsula, rebuilt from period maps and records rather than modern satellite data.
