XCOM 2 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which won the Game of the Year title in 2012.

Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders signed an act of unconditional surrender to aliens. XCOM, Earth's last line of defense, has been destroyed, and its remnants are scattered across the globe. In XCOM 2, aliens rule the planet, building it with glittering cities and promising humanity a cloudless future. However, the aliens secretly hatch sinister plans and destroy all who refuse to live by the new rules.

Only those living on the fringes of the new world have retained some vestiges of freedom. They gather their strength to fight back against the invaders. Forced to constantly hide from an enemy that outnumbers them, former XCOM agents try to revive their organization, expose the occupiers, and destroy them once and for all.

XCOM UNDERGROUND: Take command of the Avenger, an alien transport ship converted into XCOM's mobile headquarters. The game's new open world gives you the freedom to choose where to strike, how to rally support from the populace, and when to launch special operations to disrupt ADVENT's plans.

RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five classes of fighters, each with their own unique talent tree, allow you to create squads of soldiers whose skills are best suited to the implementation of your tactical plans.

GUERRILLA TACTICS: New game mechanics will give you more freedom in battle. Use cover to ambush enemy patrols and loot the corpses of defeated opponents. Rescue VIPs and wounded comrades-in-arms, dragging them to the extraction zone.

A NEW GENERATION OF ENEMIES: A variety of enemies, from new advanced alien species to the ADVENT military, the new regime's enforcers, provide tactical diversity on the battlefield.

RESEARCH, CRAFT, AND UPGRADE: Design and build sections of your Avenger to gain an edge on the battlefield. Use your scientists and engineers to research, create, and upgrade weapons and armor that best suit your fighting style.

EVERY MISSION IS UNIQUE: Embark on missions all over the world, from the wilds to the heart of alien-controlled cities and the depths of enemy installations. There is a virtually endless variety of maps, missions and objectives to choose from.

CREATE YOUR OWN MODIFICATIONS: Special game tools allow players to create their own campaigns, tactical and strategic gameplay features, aliens and new soldier classes, and then share them with the gaming community via the Steam Workshop.
