Lords of the Fallen is a vast, punishing action RPG set across two parallel realms — Axiom, the world of the living, and Umbral, the rotting realm of the dead that sits directly on top of it. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders you are sent to overthrow the resurrected demon god Adyr, and the only way through is to move constantly between two versions of the same space. Developed by CI Games as a complete reimagining rather than a sequel, it is one of the largest games the genre has produced, and this Mac build runs the full experience natively.

🌑 Two Worlds, One Map

Every location exists twice. Raising your Umbral Lamp lets you peer into the realm of the dead without leaving the living one, revealing bridges that do not exist in Axiom, enemies waiting behind you and paths that are otherwise impassable. Crossing over fully is a one-way trip until you find a beacon, which turns exploration into a genuine gamble every single time.

💀 Death Is Not The End

Dying in Axiom drops you into Umbral rather than back at a checkpoint, giving you a second life you have to fight your way out of. Umbral grows more hostile the longer you stay, spawning increasingly aggressive enemies until it becomes unsurvivable — so the game constantly weighs your greed against how long you can hold your nerve.

⚔️ Deep, Flexible Combat

Over a hundred weapons across strength, agility, radiance and inferno builds, with ranged options, throwables and a full magic system. Stance, poise and stamina all matter, and the game supports genuinely different playstyles rather than funnelling everyone toward the same optimal sword.

The map is enormous and almost entirely interconnected, folding back on itself through shortcuts you unlock rather than through loading screens. You can also place your own checkpoints using seedbeds, which adds a real risk-and-reward layer to how far you push before resting.

👥 Uninterrupted Co-op

Online co-operative play runs across the entire campaign without the session limits the genre usually imposes, and invasions can arrive at any point. A host keeps all progress made together, so a full playthrough with a friend is genuinely viable.
