Get to the bottom of the truth

After a mysterious incident, Alterra hastily abandoned the planet. The entire region is littered with abandoned research stations. What happened to the scientists who lived and worked here? Journals, items, and data banks scattered among the debris provide a different perspective on the incident. With limited resources, you will have to improvise to survive.

Find unexplored biomes

Swim beneath the sparkling blue arches of the Twisting Bridges. Marvel at the enormous glittering crystals in the Crystal Caves. Climb snow-capped peaks and explore the frigid caverns of glaciers. Weave between erupting thermal springs to find ancient alien artifacts. Below Zero is a whole new world to survive, explore, and roam.

Build housing and vehicles

Build spacious homes, mine resources, and craft equipment to survive in harsh climates. Race across the snowy tundra on the Polar Fox gravity bike. Navigate fascinating and dangerous biomes in the modular submarine Seafarer.

Explore alien life forms

The unknown will be encountered at every turn. Swim through the colossal Titan Holetail, find the ghostly Shadow Leviathan and visit the cute Pingwings. But be careful. Not all creatures in this amazing world are friendly.

Survive in sub-zero temperatures

Jump in, the water is warm. Sub-zero temperatures in this Arctic region pose a new threat. Above the surface, new weather conditions await you. Dress in a warm and cozy thermal suit, pour yourself a cup of hot coffee and warm yourself by the fire lilies to ward off the cold.

Ocean of intrigue

What really happened to your sister? Who were the aliens who discovered this place before you? Why did they live on this planet? Can we find solace in our grief in the truth? Below Zero's story expands on the Subnautica universe, delving even deeper into the mystery of the original game.

Team of developers

Below Zero is being developed by a small studio called Unknown Worlds, whose first project was Natural Selection, a modification for Half-Life that was released in 2002. The same studio gave the world the original Subnautica. The studio's employees are scattered around the world - in the USA, Great Britain, France, Russia, Austria, Australia, Canada and many other countries.
