GRAIN ROT is a rural horror game set across farmland that has gone wrong in a way nobody wants to name. You are working a property in the late season, the crop is failing, and the further you get from the farmhouse the harder it becomes to pretend that is all that is happening. It combines a slow, chore-driven opening with a back half that steadily strips away the routine you built, and it is far more unsettling for having let you get comfortable first.

🌾 Work The Land First

The opening hours are deliberately mundane — tools, tasks, fences, machinery. Establishing that rhythm is the point, because the game later uses your own routine against you, and the first time a familiar job goes wrong is genuinely alarming.

🌫️ Distance Is The Threat

The farm is large and largely open, and the horror is built around sightlines rather than corridors. Something visible at the treeline half a field away is considerably worse than something in a hallway, and the game knows it.

🔦 Nights That Get Longer

Day and night cycles shift the rules of the space entirely. What is a chore in daylight becomes a decision after dark, and the game gradually gives you fewer reasons to believe daylight is safe either.

📻 Story Told Sideways

There is very little exposition. What happened here is assembled from equipment, notes, radio fragments and what the land itself is doing, and the game trusts you to put it together without a briefing.

😨 Restraint And Escalation

It holds back for a long time, then commits. The escalation in the final act is genuinely nasty, and it lands precisely because the game spent so long refusing to show its hand.
