Cellar Keeper is a small horror game about a job you should not have taken. You are responsible for a cellar, the rules governing it are specific, and the game makes very clear early on that the rules exist for a reason. It works in the modern tradition of short, rule-driven horror — no combat, no weapons, just a checklist, a space you cannot fully see, and a growing certainty that something down there is paying attention.

📜 Follow The Rules

Your instructions are precise and occasionally strange. Obeying them is survivable; improvising is not. The horror comes from the gap between what the rules say and what you are being tempted to do, and the game is patient about widening it.

🕯️ Light Is A Resource

Visibility is limited and managed rather than given. Deciding where to look and what to leave in the dark is a constant tradeoff, and the game consistently punishes the assumption that an empty room stays empty.

🚪 A Space You Learn

The cellar is compact and you will come to know it well, which is exactly what makes each change to it land. Nothing about the layout is random, so when something is different you notice immediately.

👁️ Restraint Over Spectacle

There is very little in the way of loud jump scares. The tension is built through sound, timing and the slow accumulation of things that are almost right, and it holds up considerably better than a game leaning on shock.

🔁 Short And Repeatable

A single run does not take long, which is deliberate — the game expects you to go back down knowing more, and knowing more is not always an advantage.
